The train is probably the best way to discover the rest of Switzerland. Click on the following link to visit the Swiss train network website Chemins de Fer Fédéraux (CFF) The train network throughout Switzerland is very extensive (20,000 km) and very well-served (there is at least one train per hour for the majority of destinations). However, whilst the trains always run on time, the price of tickets is fairly high. If you think you might be using the train quite a lot, you might want to consider investing in the 'demi-tarif' (half price) railcard which costs 99CHF and is valid for a year. The half price reduction can be used for all first and second class train tickets, for coach journeys, and boats on the big lakes throughout Switzerland. For further information go to the train station or visit the CFF website. You can also phone the following number: 0900 300 300 (1.19 franc/minute) or 00800 100 200 30 (free from most European countries).

Advice : If you need to go from the center to the airport, do not forget that a bus ticket allows you to move by bus or by train to the airport. It's far cheaper than a cab. Train goes to the airport in 7 minutes.

Connections by TGV and regular trains to most destinations in France from the Cornavin train station. (SNCF)
