With nearly 200 years of history and fidelity to the vision of its original founders, the Institute still fulfills its mission of exploration, conservation, research, teaching, as well as the protection of vegetational diversity. It manages to do all of this whilst always working on enriching its collections at the same time.
The CJB (les Conservatoire et Jardin botaniques) are active in a number of different regional, national and international research programmes, using the most modern techniques. They have not forgotten their public, however, and offer their visitors a space of beauty and relaxation, and also a place which informs people about conservation of nature which is all too often under threat of some kind.
