In the middle of the Rhône river there is an unusual little island of calm right in the heart of bustling Geneva: 'les Halles de l'île'. On this little island you will find an art centre, 'Art en île' (
www.act-art.ch) which is something in between an art centre and a gallery. It is a place of innovative artistic creation and experimentation.
'Les Halles' also house two book shops: 'La librairie Archigrahpy' (http://www.archigraphy.ch/) and a specialist Swiss-French library on architecture, design and graphics called 'Papiers gras' (http://www.papiers-gras.com/), which is also specialised in comic books.
The new 'Brasserie des Halles de l'île' was opened in summer 2009 (http://www.brasseriedeshallesdelile.ch/).
