It was William Favre who was responsible for the wonderful landscaping of Parc la Grange. It was also him who designed the small alpine lake to the east of the property. Parc la Grange is without doubt the most beautiful park in Geneva with its magnificent view over the lake, the stone lions carved onto the magnificent entranceway, its ancient trees, its rose garden, its orangery and the 18th century villa at the top of the hill.
During the summer there are two theatres in the park. The first is 'le Théâtre de l'Orangerie' (with a bar where you can also eat on show nights), which is situated behind the villa. The second one is 'le Théâtre de Verdure' which is right by the Eaux-Vives entrance to the park. There are a lot of open-air concerts here in particular.
On y trouve également une belle place de jeux pour enfants avec une pataugeoire et une "crémerie-buvette" installée dans la petite orangerie.
The park is also a great place for children to come and play with a paddling pool, especially with the popular café in the orangery.
The beautiful rose garden is very well situated: it is well-sheltered from the north winds, but gets a lot of sunshine at the same time. The park is open from sunrise to sunset. It is the only park in Geneva to be closed at night, which is in accordance with the wishes of its former owner. A bell will announce that it is about to close.
