If you have to choose just one park to visit in Geneva, it should definitely be this one. Everything you could possibly want is here, and it's also a great party spot. It is located right in the centre of town and is by far the most frequented park in the city.

It was in fact the first botanical garden to be built in Geneva and it boasts a wide range of different plant species, as well as over a hundred different types of trees (all of which are labelled for your information).

Aside from its plant life, Parc des Bastions is also the home of the most famous monument of the city: the Reformation Wall.

As well as being a must-see spot for tourists, Parc des Bastions is also the meeting point for the city's chess players. There are six giant chess boards which draw regular crowds of both players and spectators.

You will also find the 'Mairie de Genève' here in the beautiful 'petit palais Eynard', which was built in 1817 for a Swiss banker by an architect from Florence. Finally, there is also the main building of the Université de Genève here which dates back to 1873.
